At what point in your life did your faith come alive? How did this happen?
My faith began to burn in college when I began to attend daily mass. The ability to see and come in contact with the Lord and His Church enkindled my relationship with Christ, and showed me the richness of the Catholic tradition.

What did you do before you entered the seminary?
Prior to entering the seminary, I was a college student at CU where I rock climbed, skied, and enjoyed the presence of solid friends. I also studied civil engineering.

What was one of the most important things that helped you take the step into seminary?
Prayer. One way in particular that aided me was Ignation contemplation which is where you silence your body and mind and imagine yourself in a particular situation and then listen to your heart. For example, I would imagine myself walking home to my wife and then imagine myself walking to the rectory, knowing that I had just celebrated mass after an hour of confessions, and then I would discern where I felt more at peace and fulfilled.

How do you like to spend your free time?
I love to be in creation, especially mountain biking, skiing, rock climbing and running. Then the best nights are enjoyed at a friend’s house with a home cooked meal.

What would be your one piece of advice for a young man discerning his vocation?
Embrace adventure.
